A couple of months ago publishing company Cengage published my blog post on the origins of ‘Elbows off the table’ – a brief research into the why it has always been so abominably rude to have your elbows on the table, something that even my mother could never properly answer.
I felt very privileged to be able to use the fantastic online resources of Gale to complete my research, and using their array of primary sources I was able to trace a brief history of where this peculiar etiquette came from.
